UI performance problems; cold start leads to blinking icons and sometimes to complete UI freeze

since 1.0-beta11 a restart of fdroid-classic (with really killing it) slows down the whole device.

it can take up to a few minutes until the device responds fluently again... and while these duration sometimes android pops up with the warning, that fdroid-classic is not responding and whether you want to wait or kill it.
at first i thought it was because of something like a transition from beta10 to beta11, but unfortunately it is reproducible for every cold start of fdroid-classic.
